Ice Ice Baby

This past Friday evening we received the worst weather that we’ll get all winter… 30 degrees with a bit of rain that changed between rain, snow, and sleet. I figured it was my duty, as a 4×4 owner, to go out in the weather and scope things out. After about 30 minutes of warming up the truck and scraping nearly half an inch of ice off the windshield I finally made it out of the driveway.

The roads well traveled seemed to be ice-free, but those seldom driven were a disaster. The latter were the ones I chose to drive, intentionally. Surprisingly, there weren’t any wrecks on the road that I saw. However, there were the usual idiots that think it’s alright to pull out in front of me with only 100 yards to spare, as well as the drivers that feel the need to drive 10mph over the speed limit, despite the conditions.

While driving around, I remembered a building that had caught my eye in the past. I figured this was a great opportunity to drive by and find out what it was. The building (pictured above) was one of the newer offices for the Greenville Hospital System. The windows were what caught my eye before and they proved to be very photogenic (especially after a little doctoring).

The parking lot is like a maze to navigate and was covered in ice. At one point in time I found my back tires traveling faster than the fronts and moving in a completely different direction. No harm done. I even tried to complete the maneuver a 2nd time but was unsuccessful (being that I couldn’t get the rear to slide, not wreck).

Another picture worth mentioning on my trip:

Carlisle, PA Truck Show

This past August, a friend of mine and I took a road trip to Carlisle, PA for a huge truck show that my friend had seen in a magazine. After all these months I finally got around to post-processing of pictures, and this is one that I came up with. The picture is of an early 90’s Chevy truck lifted and sitting on 52 inch tires. The owner and another guy were in the process of parking a lowrider truck underneath the superior Chevy. You can see the tailgate of the lowrider as well as the backside of the owner. I don’t care too much for that type of truck which is I why I opted to get a shot from the opposite side. For the life of me I can’t remember the name of the show, but it had everything. The actual show part… vendors… mud racing… monster truck show… burnout competition… bikini competition(!!!)… and even MEGASAURUS, the car eating monster.

Streetfighter S

The much desirable 2010 Ducati Streetfighter S. This bike was on display at the 2010 Cycle World International Motorcycle Show. I’m still not sure if I like this more than the Monster, but if you’d like to donate either one to the Make-a-Chris Foundation I certainly won’t be picky. Seriously, for a mere $18,995 you could make me very happy. I’ll totally be your best friend and you can even come to my birthday party. Sleepover!

Here are your top-ten lists of both camera models and manufacturers. This list is created by pulling the EXIF data from each image uploaded to the site. Topping the list for models: the camera that I own. Apple sits at #7 for manufacturer uploads and the iPhone itself ranks 13th. I’m surprised that many people upload their photos from a cell phone… granted: they DO own an iPhone, they can’t be too smart…. “It just works!”

The list is updated every Monday.

Sucker Punch Sallys

I had the opportunity to go to the International Motorcycle Show (put on by Cycle World). Sadly, I had no interest in most of the manufacturer’s bikes (except the Ducati’s). The customs and classics where what held my interest. This beaut built by Sucker Punch Sallys caught my eye. It was built around a Harley motor and sports some of the features found on bikes pre-dating the 50’s. Leather, leaf-spring front suspension, foot-controlled throttle, and no front brake. I believe this is one of their Love/Hate models. Scope out their site here:
